Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day are, without a doubt, the most popular times in the year to get engaged. Apparently this year was no different andI have had many requests for decoration quotationscome my way in the last few weeks.
Many of you will have been at the Atlantic Bridal Showcase and BRIDES2016 in January and many of the vendors you will need were at the shows displaying their wares and services. There are several options for every requirement and detail and when you live in or are being married in a fabulous place like Nova Scotia, there is an abundance of unique settings and ideas available.
Before selecting a candidate venue, it is essential that you have an idea on the number of guests you will likely have attend your wedding. This will immediately rule out some venues you may have thought of because they would be either too large or too small for your numbers. Next you will decide on the setting you would like for your wedding. http://www.hitched.ca/wedding-venues/ provides a list of some of the places available when you dial in Nova Scotia and then the area you might be thinking of. Halifax has many fabulous venues but if you are thinking of something outside of the city, you may need to Google your target location specifically, ie: Kentville, Annapolis, Wolfville, Digby, Lunenburg, New Glasgow/Antigonish, etc. There may be unique and awesome places you haven’t thought about. Also, try www.novascotia.com (Tourism Nova Scotia) which has good information on event calendars and accommodations for many areas across the province. Don’t forget Golf Courses…..they make excellent wedding venues. You can see what is available on Google.
Make a contact list of your candidate venues so you can reach out for specific information and availability. You can then set up your site visits to the qualifying venues on your list.
The venue Wedding Event Coordinator will show you around all of the key areas available. He or she will also let you know what is included in the venue contract and if there are wedding packages available. Often for a price per guest you will secure the venue, the food (either plated or buffet), the bridal suite, a discounted room rate for guests, perhaps parking and sometimes décor. When it comes to the décor available and included, ask to view items as you want to ensure that it is what you would want in your décor plans. Items like chair covers and tablecloths often get tired looking after too much use. If centrepieces are also a part, understand what that consists of. You will then know what else you will need to add from an outside source.
Once you have a venue secured, you can look for …………………. Stay tuned next week.
