the largest the organization has had here in Halifax on International Women’s Day! I think all 300 seats were filled. Joanne Thomas Yaccato was brilliant! She is President and Founder of The Thomas Yaccato Group in Toronto. She is feisty and funny and she was captivating. I am proud as a Canadian woman to have Joanne, a Canadian Ambassador in her own right, reaching out across the world, a champion of women everywhere. With her concept of Gender Intelligence, she has accomplished much in countries you would not think women would be afforded rights, due to cultural differences. Joanne’s message was clear though, no matter where she travelled in the world, women were keen to listen, understand and act, demonstrating abilities no one knew they had. I encourage you to take some time to have a look at the work Joanne has introduced to the world http://www.thethomasyaccatogroup.ca/ . Grand Central Events and Décor provided room décor. Many thanks to the staff at WTCC for their excellent help. They are a always a pleasure to work with.
And speaking of feisty females, just on a personal note, I have a teeny tiny brand new little 2.5 lb granddaughter who is demonstrating all of the strengths of the female gender! Hayley was born 2 weeks ago, 8 weeks early and just under 2 lbs. (see photo of her diaper) She is a perfect little bundle and is doing very well (Secretly I like to think she has the survivor instinct born into her through myself and my mother J). I have 5 other granddaughters, Ella, Lucy, Violet, Ava and Quinn (and a very outnumbered grandson, Stone). As a grandmother, I have much to pass along to all of my little ladies about self-worth, strength of character, overcoming obstacles, self-respect and respect for others (re-enforcement to what their parents are already teaching them). Through personal experience, I think I have something unique to teach them. For my sons and my grandson, respect for others and for women in particular, will help to bring about the positive change so obviously needed.
Next week I’ll be getting back to talking about the wedding season and what you may need. I would like to talk about flowers and will have some input about what you should be watching and looking for. This is a huge piece of a wedding day including bridal bouquets, urns, general décor, archways, and centrepieces.
